Browning Superposed

The Browning Superposed Shotgun

It is the late 80's. My hunting buddy and I were headed back to town from the hunting woods to escape the midday Florida heat. We were a little bored after a morning of hunting with no success. My buddy asked me if I wanted to go to Gator Skeet and Trap to burn some powder. I had shot some backyard clays before but never had been to supervised skeet field. I had my dad's trusty old Remington 870 Wingmaster in tow so I said sure.

As we arrived at the club we noticed the parking lot full of brand new pickup Trucks. The late 80's was a financial depression so we new instantly this was a rich mans sport. I quickly changed into my cutoff shorts and flip flops. As I stepped up to station one on the skeet field I glanced around at the competition. I noticed that the clothes he was wearing probably cost more than the my car and my shotgun. Then I noticed his shotgun was a Dianna grade Browning Superposed Shotgun. At the time I had no idea what that would cost. The gun was beautiful and every inch of the receiver engraved. We had an afternoon of shooting that I will tell you about next week.

The Browning Superposed shotgun began life in 1931 and continues to this day. It is a boxlock over and under shotgun. It is a John Browning design. It is manufactured in 12,16,20,28 gauge and 410. The Superposed came in Grade 1, Pidgen Grade, Diana Grade, Midas Grade.
